Dick has extensive experience in nonprofit leadership, including twenty years in higher education as a senior development officer. He served as a development professional at Kutztown University and Moravian College.
In his time at Kutztown, he supervised KU's first - and successful - eight-figure capital campaign. Dick has extensive experience with program start-ups; he initiated corporate, planned giving, major gifts, and employee giving programs. The stewardship, donor recognition, and cultivation programs he conceived and supervised reduced costs, increased participation, and resulted in dramatic growth of endowed funds, scholarships, and membership in all giving club levels. He recruited, trained, and motivated alumni, corporate, and community volunteers for annual and capital campaigns and was responsible for board development, including solicitation.
He has supervised the computerization of four different offices and is skilled at identifying information needs and adapting software to meet those needs. He has twenty years' experience utilizing Raisers' Edge.
Dick served thirty years on the Allentown City Planning Commission, is past president of the board of the Allentown School District Foundation, and is past vice president of the Girl Scouts – Great Valley Council and the Mayfair Festival, Inc. He remains active with the ASDF as a volunteer kindergarten reader in the Allentown School District, and he manages the Foundation's scholarship program.
He has presented at regional and national meetings of the Council for the Advancement and Support of Education (CASE); Pennsylvania State System of Higher Education (PASHHE) Advancement conferences; state, regional and national meetings of admissions organizations, the College Board, and the American College Testing Program. Dick is a Standards for Excellence® PA Licensed Consultant.
