Joan has extensive fund development experience with a concentration in major gifts, grants and capital campaigns. She served as the associate director of development and capital campaign coordinator for the Delaware Nature Society (DNS), where she successfully completed a capital and endowment campaign. After retiring from the Delaware Nature Society, Joan wrote a history of the organization in celebration of its 40th anniversary. She has consulted on numerous successful capital and annual campaigns.

Joan has served on the board of the Brandywine Chapter of the Association of Fundraising Professionals (AFP) and was named the chapter’s Fundraising Executive of the Year. She was a member of the 2003 People to People Ambassadors delegation to Cuba, which focused on increasing understanding and building relationships between Cuban non-government organizations (NGO’s) and the U.S. nonprofit sector. She is an Association of Fundraising Professionals master teacher and coaches professionals applying for certification.
