Joan has more than 35 years of experience in marketing communications and fundraising. She is highly skilled in developing the core message of nonprofit organizations and communicating that message in a variety of marketing tools from websites and print pieces to social media. Joan has successfully developed federal, state and foundation grant proposals. Her expertise includes case statement development, funding research, proposal development, reporting and cultivation. She is president of Joan B. Marcus Communications, which helps nonprofit organizations and businesses build their brand through the power of words. 

Joan is a member of the board of directors of Turning Point of the Lehigh Valley, a member of the American Advertising Federation — Greater Lehigh Valley where she serves on the Philanthropy Committee, and a member of the Association of Fundraising Professionals. She is a volunteer at St. Francis of Assisi Church, Allentown. Joan has served on the board of THE PROGRAM for Women & Families and the Small Business Council of the Greater Lehigh Valley Chamber of Commerce where she was chairperson of the Marketing Committee. Joan is a graduate of The George Washington University and a member of Phi Beta Kappa.
